Torches

Sunrise: the gold glow of fire

lighting Lands End

bringing memories of marathons

triumphs of men

and brighter Greek days.

The steady flow of footfalls

will meander the countryside –

heralds in pyrotechnic proclamation.

The torch moves from hand to hand.

Sunrise: the gold glow of fire

on frightened heads

lighting Jerusalem darkness

recalling prophecy and promise.

The steady flow of footfalls

will meander the world

in glossolalian proclamation.

The torch moves from generation to generation.

The Light has come.

  1. I only just “got.” I read it through and loved it but got distracted before leaving a comment. Then my left brain took over and reminded me that you’re over in the UK where the Olympic games will be starting soon. Loved the multiple meanings and lovely images of this, Keith.
